Jade Palace Seafood Restaurant (Forum The Shopping Mall) - Great Seafood but Mediocre Dim Sum

I can say that Jade Palace fulfils my expectations for good seafood, decent service and quite okay ambience. The place is not extremely spacious like Summer Palace or Cherry Garden or even Li Bai, but one will not feel that one's own space being constantly invaded like in some restaurants that I blacklisted for cramped spaces (Lei Garden, Imperial Treasure Ngee Ann City).

The fresh seafood is truly what makes this place worthwhile to go to (this place is called a Seafood Palace for a good reason). A note: avoid non seafood items, like dim sum, especially the awful tasting century egg porridge (got to be one of the worst I had in restaurants) or fried vegetables, they are poorly executed, resulting in being bland, lacking in the inherent aroma. Back to the seafood, the ingredients used are fresh, the presentation and the style of cooking are refreshing in the sense that the tastes of the dishes are relatively unique (not the same old dishes cooked in the exact same style that one can find in many other generic Chinese restaurants), yet very flavourful and pleasing to the taste buds. The Alaskan crab is a very beautiful dish, mainly in the taste department; the flesh is succulent and soaked with flavour.

A big plus is that not only finger washing water was provided; plastic gloves are also provided so that patrons can enjoy the crab without dirtying the hands. This is a very thoughtful gesture, making this restaurant, the number one place to go to if I want to enjoy eating crabs!

My Thoughts: Nice, for the Seafood only
