Bistro G - For that Idyllic Meal Time

Imagine being in a relaxing setting and enjoying Bistro Breakfast decked with juicy sausage, crispy bacon, wholesome toast and scrambled egg, plus fresh tomato slices and leafy veggies to perk thing up. Ah, that’s life. That’s the experience of dining at Bistro G.

Given the high ceiling, minimalistic white setting, lots of natural light peeking through the glass walls, and ample of space between tables, it is so easy to feel relaxed at this place. And the food is very good to go along with.

Talking about the food, what I like here is the interesting menu featuring unique items. One good example is the Pulled Pork Challah, which is super flavourful, juicy shredded pork drizzled with cheddar sauce sandwiched between soft, fluffy challah bun. This is bursting with flavours. Definitely a highlight of this place.

The same goes for Chicken Katsu Burger that has deep fried chicken patty, special sauce of horseradish and brioche bun instead. The chef knows exactly what kind of unique sauce to pair with his burgers, since it really works beautifully.

One of the weak links here is the Lobster Roll. Yes, the sauce goes very well with the generous chucks of lobster meat, but the meat is cold. In fact, I think it is taken straight out of the fridge. It may be just me, but I want freshly cooked meat to be in my burger, to feel the hot juices of the meat rush out to soak the bun when I bite into it. And the lobster meat is pretty tough and bland. This is not the fault of the cook though since based on my experiences, lobster dishes have always been the overpriced “meh” item on the menu. Lobster is basically the overhyped tasteless, tough cousin of prawns. I really need to stop ordering lobster despite how promising it looks.

See the two sad-looking pieces of sourdough toast here? It looks pretty unimpressive, but the bread is pretty good, full of subtle flavours. My problem with this is for its hefty price, there is no butter provided. Yes, I need to pay extra for the butter. Now the toast is truly very sad-looking. I definitely will not order this ever again.

Note: Looks like there is an update in the menu where butter is now provided. Geez, it’s about time. But due to the bad experience, I’m still not touching that.

Service is functional, but I got to give credit to the girl who kept her cool when I looked like I was going to blow up at the knowledge that no butter was provided for the expensive toast.

Thoughts: Great place to relax and enjoy good food.

Harry’s South Beach - Nice Cozy Bar to chill out

This is an long overdue piece, and more of such pieces to come. I had been really busy since a switch in job role, which led to attending lots of courses and enriching myself, so while I still dine out often, writing about these experiences took a back seat for a while. As said, good restaurants deserve a mention here, doesn’t matter when, so I’m back at this!

The interior of the place is chic yet has that laid-back vibe that is perfect for chilling out. And it is great for people watching due to the glass walls at the side facing Mariott shopping complex walkway.

Rich olive oil peppered with chilli flakes, plus several succulent prawns yields a very flavourful and hearty meal that is Prawn and Seaweed Aglio Olio. I absolutely enjoy tucking into this.

Beer Battered Fish and Chips looks real good and my companion is full of praises about it.

Thoughts: Great place to chill out!

The Cheese Cake from Ginza

The moment one opens the packaging, the aroma of eggy cake sponge will greet one’s olfactory senses. And a bite of this soft, fluffy, moist cake will reward the taste buds with the subtle, nuanced harmonized flavours of cream cheese, custard and cake. This is so good that it is worth the pretty high price tag. Will definitely impress if given as gift.
