Royal Mouriya - Unbelievably Awesome

Since I’m in Kobe, naturally I got to try Kobe beef. And out of so many tempting choices, we go for Royal Mouriya, where the chefs cook the ingredients right in front of us. We get to choose which cut of meat do we want. And the menu nicely presented all the cuts with pictures, description, marbling rating and tenderness rating, so that we can make informed choices.

The food is so good that I can say the meal here is one of the best meals I have in Japan for this Japan Trip.

The service is absolutely wonderful, and the chefs do so well to multitask between cooking the food and interacting with the patrons. This kind of interaction makes the experience special.

The Kobe beef is slowly cooked on low heat teppanyaki stove to yield this melty, soft, juicy, buttery medium rare beef. And one bite into the A5 Sirloin, buttery juices flow out from the meat. For variety in taste, I can dip some salt onto the beef, or eat with deep fried garlic slices, or pair with sesame or real grated wasabi. All options are delicious. But my favourite is wasabi that balances the creaminess of the beef. Garlic slices also work so well due its light pungency and the crunchy texture contrasting that of the tender beef.

Clear onion soup with beef makes me go, “Wow!” At first sip. The umami sweetness of meat and vegetables hits the sweet spot. Best soup I have in Japan.

Delicious Salad full of fresh crunchy, juicy vegetables drizzled with tangy savoury sauce.

The fresh vegetables are perfectly grilled to retain their juiciness while imbuing a touch of char to accentuate the natural sweetness the vegetables.

Crunchy lotus root, soft tender mushroom, super sweet Sweet Potato, refreshing juicy eggplant that tastes good with wasabi, I love them all. In addition, the beansprouts is nice.
