Shinkansen to Kyoto

Time to move our bases from Tokyo to Kyoto! And we do it by travelling via Shinkansen. It is such a nice, relaxing and comfortable ride because we pay extra to book the seats and additional extra cost to secure the seats with luggage space at the back. So we don’t have to lift the heavy luggages up to put them in the compartments above the seats. And the seats can adjust back for a more comfortable position. It is so good that we decide to pay more to take Shinkansen to go to Kobe and Osaka on another day.

It is quite an experience to relax on the seat and see objects right in front of me turning into a blur as the train is moving fast and steady on the tracks.

Along the way, when I look farther out, I get to see spans of farms, mountainous areas and light industries, getting me to marvel about how big the world is.

And the bentos sold at Shinkansen stations are of good quality. In fact, they are delicious.

The sandwich I brought at Shinkansen station is like the best store-brought sandwich I ever have. It is packed with so many eggs prepared in different ways. With soft moist fluffy bread and a dash of paprika added, it is perfect.
