The smell of grilled beef hits me the moment I step out from the train station and onto the streets of Kobe. And the reason for this is that the streets are populated by lots of restaurants offering Kobe Beef. My craving for some grilled meat immediately shoots through the roof as I take in that lovely aroma.
Kobe has one’s own unique charm, different from that of Tokyo and Kyoto. The pace here is more relaxed and lots of buildings here are of modern old school style, yet they are very well-maintained. In fact, while Japan streets are generally very clean, Kobe seems to take it up a notch. That additional cleanliness induces a special kind of calmness in me. I really relish it.
