Hakata Sugar Butter Sand Tree

An unexpected good find on Shopee! Presenting Hakata Sugar Butter Sand Tree, Amou Strawberry version! I love it that the biscuit part is made of puff pastry biscuit, making this snack unique. And just one light bite on the crispy biscuit, it breaks into mouth and melts into buttery goodness. The light saltiness of the biscuit perfectly complements the sweet cream sugar filling. And the strong aroma of real Amou strawberries makes me love this creation even more.

LeTao Langue de Chat au Fromage

Cheese filling made with Mascarpone Cheese is definitely a winner, as long as no chocolate is added. LeTAO, famous for its fromage cheesecake, immediately caught my attention when I was browsing for Japanese snacks. Without a second thought, I ordered this cheese cookie biscuit. It didn’t disappoint. The cheese filling is out of this world. The cookie has that slight melt-in-your-mouth quality. A good buy.

Tokyo Milk Cheese Factory - Langue de Chat Cookies for Cheese Lovers and Awesome Sundae!

A strong contender to Shiro Koibito as king of Langue de Chat cookie has emerged in form of Tokyo Milk Cheese Factory!

Made with Hokkaido Jersey milk and French Guérande salt, Tokyo Milk Cheese Factory products feature rich buttery, crumbly cookies sandwiching thick slabs of smooth white chocolate cheese filling. A light bite on the langue de chat and the cookie quickly breaks off to melt into buttery goodness in the mouth. The nutty flavours of the exotic cheeses in the filling add the extra kick to the taste. A must-try for cheese lovers.

Porcini & Gouda is my personal favourite out of Tokyo Milk Cheese Factory’s offerings. The highly sought-after earthy aroma of the rare porcini mushroom makes this cookie taste like an exquisite French/Italian course condensed into a dainty petit fours. Paired with gouda cheese, this is a decadent treat.

The taste of camembert cheese is very pronounced in Salt & Camembert langue de chat, this may not be everyone’s cup of tea. Cheese lovers will appreciate this though.

Honey & Gorgonzola’s taste is more nuanced due to the sweet honey harmonizing the strong cheesy flavour of blue-veined gorgonzola cheese. Can be a crowd pleaser.

Update: The packaging had changed. Now they have new flavours such as Truffle and Cheddar, Salted Caramel and Mascarpone.

Truffle and Cheddar is umami dream comes true in the form of cookie. The intense aroma of truffle is perfect match with the saltiness of the cheese. The mild sweetness of the crispy cookie perks things up.

Salted Caramel and Mascarpone is for caramel lovers. The taste of caramel is strong, to the point that the subtle flavour of mascarpone is eclipsed. I can taste the creaminess of mascarpone though.

Thanks to my friends, I also get to try Lemon and Cheesecake cookies and Strawberry and Milk Tea cookies brought from Japan. Lemon and Cheesecake, with the punch of lemon and smoothness of cream cheese, will definitely convert anyone into a fan of Tokyo Milk Cheese Factory cookies. Strawberry and Milk Tea is a very safe option for trying this brand of cookies, even for those who are not into cheese. The pleasant, harmonious combination of strawberry and milk can hardly go wrong. Keep eyes peeled for seasonal availability of these cookies at our local counters.

For something different to indulge in or to impress cheese lovers, this brand of cookies makes for great choice.

Update: Got to try the Double Fromage Cheesecake from here, it is so blissfully yummy! Light but distinctive taste of cheese, fluffy creaminess and the slight variation in texture and taste between baked cheesecake (an iota of saltiness plus nutty flavour) and no bake part (smooth and creamy), this combination makes for the perfect cheesecake.

Strawberry Swiss Roll defines the golden standard for cake to cream ratio. Just a ring of cake wrapping around a huge dollop of cream with a thin layer of strawberry jam spread on its inter surface, this is the recipe for best swiss roll. And the super tiny strawberry bits added to the pink strawberry cream makes this a blissful treat. I always prefer real strawberries used in strawberry baked goods, so this cake wins over my heart.

Cow Cow Twist is a must-order because it is the best sundae. I love the exotic nutty flavour of cheese in the ice-cold cloud of cream.

Cow Cow Milk Pie is also worth a try due to the creamy, fragrant cream filling and the novelty of the flaky puff pastry encapsulating it.

Thoughts: Must-try for cheese lovers.

Swiss Delice

For something different, to try or to give as presents, check out Swiss Delice products.

White Chocolate Truffino Pink consists of a core of raspberry cream encased in paper thin wafer that is coated with white chocolate. Due to the combination of raspberries and white chocolate, this decadent truffle piece features intense flavours. Great gift for that someone special. But this sold out fast at road shows, so grab a box fast if you spot it.

Air Passion is yoghurt cream sandwiched between airy, light, meringue-like biscuits. I like this due to the tangy flavours of yoghurt and the fact that this is a unique confectionary.

Choco Truffino Noir is like White Chocolate Truffino Pink, except that the core is hazelnut cream and dark chocolate is used instead. It is nice, but given that there are lots of other products featuring the combination of hazelnut and dark chocolate, this is not exactly special in any way.

Since no artificial flavours and colours are added, these make great treats for kids too.

Shiroi Koibito

Check out what I found in Isetan Supermarket!

The highlight of this cookie is that the proportion of the thick slab of chocolate sandwiched inside, is more than that of the thin cookie.  The chocolate is smooth and fragrant while the cookie is crumbly in the mouth (but not in the hands).  I cannot resist getting a box every time I see it on sale in Singapore.

Country of Origin: Japan
Where to get this: Choco Express, Japanese themed supermarkets or fairs (not always in stock)
