Mezza9, the place I had always heard about but never been there. Due to some chance encounter, I finally get to dine at this restaurant mentioned by many.
The appetizer, Yellowfin tuna, complated with red onion compote, lemon pepper, spring onion is a very refreshing start to the meal. The raw fish thoroughly soaks up the essence of the onion, lemon and spring onion to simulate the palates. And the lightly-seared tuna gives off a hint of smoky flavour goes so well with the refreshing tangy taste of the raw part of the fish. I really love this.
Pork Ribs is very nice, especially with the fried garlic sprinkled all over it. Just that I was expecting something more impressive from such restaurant?
Matcha Soft-Serve Ice-cream is the weak link. The red beans are large, which is nice, given their rarity. But soft-serve ice-cream, which is usually found in mass market buffets? Really?
The interior of the restaurant is incredibly posh. Great place to bring one’s date to in order to impress. Though the relatively high price point of the set lunch at $50, coupled with the fact that the mains is good only, not at awesome level, the dessert is disappointing and no extras such as bread or tea/coffee, I do not think it is really worth it. But the appetizers are good enough to check out this place at least once.
Good Catch Crab Cakes, served remoulade sauce and lemon, makes for a hearty meal. The sauce is creamy and tangy, gies perfectly well with the crab cakes. Appetizers are definitely this restaurant’s strength.
