I just sussed out a very interesting place, in the form of a HDB block populated with cool hipster cafes, surrounded by greenery and walkways, and is directly opposite the atas area of Outram heritage site. It's Everton Park. And Hello Arigato is one of the very popular cafes nested within this quaint neighbourhood. By 11 plus, this place is full house already, including the benches outside the cafe. I manage to snag the second last seat before a whole stream of people comes in behind me for lunch.
I was just walking around the block to pass some time until i see an attractive display of doughnuts through the full length glass door and glass wall, so I figure that I might as try some doughnuts here.
The staff here are friendly and helpful, patiently introducing all the doughnuts available. Milk Doughnut is one of their signatures, but somehow I'm more into the special flavour of the day, Lemon Curd, so I got this instead.
Soft fluffy doughnut sprinkled with sugar crystals is packed with lots of cream and lemon custard, I love it. Especially when there is a perfect balance of sweetness and tanginess in taste.
