Mori Mori Yogashi - Delicious Unique Baked Goods

This humble little bakery sells very unique baked goods, and they are sold out by 1pm on a Saturday afternoon! And even at around 10 plus, there are customers waiting in line, ready to snap up the garlic buns right as they are fresh out of the oven. Luckily, on my second visit, I preordered the buns already, so no stress in trying to grab that last packet.

What I like about this bakery is that there is a variety of Japanese baked goods besides the famous garlic buns, such as milk roll, crepe roll, mochi, warabi, puffs, cookies, croissants and buns with interesting, exotic fillings. So yes, I did end up buying lots of different stuff from here since all look so tempting.

The service is good. The young lady is friendly, and had asked me what I was looking for when I stared at the empty shelves on my first visit where all buns were sold out. When I asked about the cake rolls, which were sold out too, she and the owner made the effort to ask which flavour I wanted and then searched through the preorder stack to search for that extra roll for me. That's a nice gesture.

Signature Fujisawa Garlic Bread is oh-so-good and so unique. The soft fluffy bun is filled with a thick layer of creamy, stretchy cheese mixed with chopped garlic. The juxtapose of textures is prefect. The taste, made up of the mild sweetness of wheat, the pungency of garlic and nuanced nutty favour of cheese is awesome too. A must-try.

I also got Negi Garlic Bread, which replaces garlic with spring onion. The pungency is milder with extra hints of planty aroma, I love this too. Actually, I can't decide which one I prefer lol

Strawberry and Taro Yam Mochi is very interesting in taste. The skin is of slightly chewy and stretchy texture, which is a joy to bit on. The Strawberry Mochi, while looking good, is made up of red bean paste instead, I can't really taste much of the strawberry component in it. I prefer the Taro Yam Mochi since the taro paste is smoother and carries a light floral earthy flavour.

One look at the interior of Strawberry Crepe Roll and I know it will taste good. And yes, I guess it right! With the thin crepe wrapped around a whole log of real strawberry cream mixed with strawberry pieces, this is strawberry creaminess heaven.

Taro Milk Roll is pillowy soft and bursting with the floral notes and earthy taste of yam. There are even yam pieces sandwiched between the cake sponge.

Usually, the few places to get warabi mochi is certain Japanese restaurants and Don Don Donki, and this quaint confectionary actually has it, so I got to get some. To top it off, it is homemade. It is like clear water in chewy jelly form, dusted with peanut powder for nutty aroma and drizzled with black sugar sauce for the intensity in taste. A nice treat.

A small area outside the bakery to enjoy the bakes straightaway.

Thoughts: Excellent bakes that I totally enjoy!
