Gunther's Modern French Cuisine - Nice comfort French food at Excellent Price

Classy ambience, nice food and decent service, sums it all. The butter spread is one of the best I had, which is extremely rich and flavourful.

The food here is nice, rich in flavor (just like the butter) that will please most palates, no complaints here, though the duck meat seems to be a bit tough, the flavour of the duck is very rich though, going perfectly well with raisin sauce. Angel Hair pasta is superb in texture and taste. The Prawns are testimony to the freshness of the ingredients used since I had no allergy reaction from eating them. Apple tart is nice but a bit one dimensional in taste, the dessert for the set lunch is better than this (in fact, an excellent dessert), being rich in flavour (sounds like the trademark of this restaurant) and smooth in texture. Though I got to admit that the food here is not exactly mind blowing since the taste of the food here is of the safe type, non ground breaking.

The service is attentive and professional, no complaints here either, though they can do better by inquiring about patrons' dietary restrictions at the start.

If I crave for some nice, decent, modern French cuisine (or some great food) on a Saturday afternoon, Gunther's is definitely the place I'll consider to go to.

My Thoughts: Nice!

Garibaldi Italian Restaurant & Bar - Interesting Sunday Brunch

For the longest time, I had been wondering about what is the Sunday brunch at Garibaldi like; is it ala carte buffet or what? The friendly staffs there informed that they serve up a variety of dishes (antipasto, pasta, mains, desserts). And the menu for brunch changes every week. If one likes a particular dish a lot, he/she can always order a second helping since all dishes are free flow.

Though, for someone like me with a small appetite and given the generous variety of dishes served (salad, oysters, smoked salmon, sliced duck, 3 types of pasta, 2 types of mains and desserts), 1 helping of each is more than enough for me. Remember to inform the service staff on what ones does not eat (for example, I don't take beef) so they can tailor the dishes to one's preferences. Food wise, they are nice, especially the pasta, since fresh ingredients and aromatic Italian herbs are used and I did not get an allergic reaction from eating the oysters there (I usually avoid oysters due to allergy).

To be frank, I wasn't wowed by the food there (but I like the food nonetheless) and the desserts are too ordinary. Given that brunches are mainly meant for the variety rather than to be heavenly in taste, I say the brunch here is of great standard, coupled with a posh ambience and a service crew who are full of smiles, friendly and chatty;

This is the place I'll definitely consider for Sunday brunch, besides Basilico.
