Seasoned Okra and Mokuzu Seaweed

I found another breakfast, near the pizza section in Don Don Donki! This is so tasty and has the sticky consistency. Goes so well with Japanese rice.

Takumiya Daifuku

I think I found the best Daifuku, aside from the Daifuku my imouto got from USS Osaka Japan. And it is Tamikuya Daifuku! I got this because of the Chinese New Year packaging. But when I took the first bite, I was amazed by how good it is. This dough skin is exactly like that of the Daifuku from my imouto. The skin is incredibly soft, sugary and has a hint of soufflé-like quality, which is the best for Daifuku. The cream inside creates a lava-like consistency for the filling, which is exactly how I love it. The black bean paste adds a hint of earthy taste to balance the mild sweetness.

I went back to buy three more boxes on another day!

My Favourite Carbohydrates for Breakfast

After the trip to japan and having Japanese breakfast at Hanayogomi and from Convenience Stores, I realise that I enjoy the taste so much and this type of breakfast is best for my body. My stomach remains stable after such breakfast. So when back in Singapore, I immediately get all the groceries from Don Don Donki to use for my breakfast.

I got Miwa Somen because the colours are too pretty. It is pure enjoyment to enjoy smooth, cold somen dipped in cold somen sauce and topped with wasabi and seaweed strips.

There is actually instant rice available in Don Don Donki! Best for preparing a quick breakfast. The quality of the riec is better than lots of common varieties out there. This is so good when paired with natto or make into onigiri.

ランチパイ snack

I was just randomly buying some Japanese snacks from Don Don Donki to give as gifts. And this snack caught my eye as the savoury puff pastry snack looks pretty interesting. I end up buying 5 more boxes after trying the Clam Chowder snack because it is surprisingly good. Each thin layer of the puff pastry is so crispy that it feels very satisfying to bite into it to get to the savoury Clam Chowder core filled with creamy umami.

Pizza one has the sweetness of tomatoes and the Curry one has the light spiciness. My favourite is still the Clam Chowder type.

鬼ひも川 Oni Himokawa Udon

This Japanese noodles is very unique in which it is flat and incredibly silky smooth. Due to the flat surface, I can feel the smoothness of noodles when slurping on it. This is like the smoothest noodle I ever have. The light meat sauce has hints of yuzu to make teh taste exciting. Highly recommended!

Luna Lassi

I know I need to get some lassi when I tried the lassi at Coco Ichibanya in Japan. Despite the name, it is actually Japanese yoghurt drink, and it is so good.

And Luna Lassi meets my expectations 😉

It is thick, rich, creamy, refreshing and has a deep yoghurt taste akin to Greek type but lighter in texture. Pairing thus with curry is pure enjoyment.

And this is sold out fast at Don Don Donki.

Kimura-san’s Farm Miracle Sweet Peach

This is the sweetest peach I have ever tastes! It’s out-of-this-world good! So good that I go back to buy a second pack after 3 days despite the high price tag. And the previously full shelf left only three packs of these peaches. A testimony on how good these taste.

Mugyutto Raw Gummy むぎゅっと生ぐミ

Just a random peek at the gummy candies section in Don Don Donki, and I found the yummiest gummies with one of a kind texture here!

Comes in floral sweet flavours, such as Lychee, Grapes, Peach and Apple, the taste is on the point and the texture is out of this world. The gummies have this super bouncy juicy texture core, wrapped with a slightly tougher, but easy to bite skin. This contrast in texture between the core and skin makes for such unique good bite.

I brought two packets at first to try and ended up liking it so much that I brought all flavours and extra for my family!

Tokyo Banana Doraemon Special

I always love Tokyo Banana because this is one of the few banana based desserts that capture my tastebuds. And Doraemon is so cute and an integrated part of my childhood.

So when I see Tokyo Banana Doraemen Special available in Don Don Donki, I just simply grab one.

Bourbon Cake

I was just looking for some small, handy snacks to give as gifts when I found Bourbon’s Fluffy Baumkuchen Lemon Flavour, which is the perfect candidate for this.

So I end up eating one and instantly fall in love with the taste and texture. The cake is fluffy, soft with a slightly crumbly texture. The cake is brilliantly coated with white chocolate for a milky taste and smooth, crisp texture. And the lemon taste sandwiched within the cake seals the deal for me. So I buy more to enjoy 😉

Cheese Soufflé is good too with the same cake texture and a pronounced taste of matured cheese.

Ohayo Brulee

I love the paper-thin biscuit-like texture at the bottom of the crystal-like burnt sugar. It is what makes me like this creme brulee so much. The custard is like creamy ice-cream, going perfectly with the crystal burnt sugar top.

Hokkaido Melon Pudding

This is so delicious! Yes, another star buy from Don Don Donki. Made with Hokkaido Milk and Melon, this pudding is creamy and full of the musky sweetness of melon. I'm getting more of this for my family.

Rich Milk Tea Almond

An unexpected buy from Don Don Donki, Rich Milk Tea Almond surprises me by how good and addictive it is.

I was just looking around at the snack section with no intention to buy the snacks when I saw rows of Rick Milk Tea Almond packets hanging off the supermarket hooks. I didn't think too much about it at first, but somehow the picture of the cross section of this snack caught my attention. Yes, I guess my science-inclined brain totally digs it. So the description of crispy exterior coated with milk tea powder got my interest and I got a pack.

The crunchy texture of the almond juxtaposes so well with the crispy coating. The nutty aroma of almond is perfect match with the creamy milk tea. I can't stop munching on this.

Nagano Purple Grapes

If there is one Japanese thing I will splurge on without thinking …much, it got to be Japanese fruits. Yes, I ususlly end up buying some fruits whenever I go to Don Don Donki 😆 This time, it’s Nagano Purple Grapes.

If Shine Muscat is the King of Grapes, Nagano Purple is solidly in the royalty category. Seedless, super thin skin, firm juicy flesh packed with pure floral sweetness and subtle aroma of wine typical of Kyoho. And no acidity 👍🏻 I love this!

Update: This grape is sold out the next day I’m back at Don Don Donki.

OSMIC Tomatoes

The sweetest and best tomatoes: OSMIC Tomatoes! These are so unbelievably sweet that I feel I'm savouring the sweet fruits laced with the distinctive tang of tomatoes. Definitely worth buying if available in Don Don Donki. These are snapped up first. I brought three boxes on Saturday, and all sold out by Thursday when I went back to buy more. I'm keeping an eye for this whenever I go to Don Don Donki!

Shiroi Koibito Hakodate Pastry Snaffles Cheesecake

Got another prized find in Don Don Donki!

This cheesecake is literally melt-in-your-mouth quality. So rich in taste, so creamy with a tang from the cheese. Absolute indulgence.

Since this is so good, I also got the strawberry version on another day! The aroma of real strawberries is so pronounced, I love it.

Don Don Donki - I go Crazy Shopping here lol

After a recent change in lifestyle, I can now shop reins free! Well, sort of. And going to Don Don Donki simply awakens that shopaholic soul in me. So yes, while I go here with a see see look look attitude, I end up going crazy on the buying and just put whatever I like into the basket.

First mention is the Shine Muscat Grapes, the best grapes in the world! This grape is like the refreshing condensation of the sweetest fruity wine. Thin skin and no seed, it's perfection manifested in grape form. A must get if going to Don Don Donki.

The mini tomatoes are pretty sweet too and super juicy. So good that I can eat these as snacks.

The Emina Cheese Dessert is like pudding in triangular form. Very interesting and the taste is creamy and good.

Otafuku Okonomiyaki is delicious and authentic. Good to satisfy cravings for some omelettes packed with vegetables and some seafood. I like it that the sauce, bonito flakes and seaweed flakes are included.

My Star Deli Ebi Croquettes is one of my star buys of the day. The creamy prawn filling hidden within the fried mashed potato is a joy to eat since it is umami goodness.

This ramen smells so good and tastes great too. The broth is milder in flavour, not as salty and not as strong in pork taste, exactly how I like it. In fact, I finish the soup.

My Favourite Grocery shopping places!
